Vero Beach Plastic Surgeon Transforms Post-Pregnancy Bodies with the Mommy Makeover

Dr. John Sarbak helps mothers restore their appearance by addressing the physical changes from pregnancy that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Vero Beach, FL – Dr. John Sarbak, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Vero Beach, understands that many new moms can become frustrated with the physical changes resulting from pregnancy – especially those changes that cannot be reversed through natural means. In response to this, he offers the mommy makeover procedure for women who would like to renew their appearance after having children. By combining a number of aesthetic enhancement options into a mommy makeover procedure, Dr. Sarbak says patients can address multiple concerns and feel confident about their bodies again.

At his Vero Beach plastic surgery practice, Dr. Sarbak recognizes various side effects that commonly result from carrying a child for nine months. The most common concern, he notes, is the abdominal skin that expands but does not always go away with lost pregnancy weight. He says that many of his patients also wish to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Another abdominal change that Dr. Sarbak can help correct in a mommy makeover is the separation of underlying muscles, which can lead to a “bulge” in the lower abdomen. Dr. Sarbak says this particular problem “can’t be corrected by a million sit-ups,” and may require a surgical procedure to improve it. In addition to changes in the abdomen, Dr. Sarbak says the breasts are a common area of concern. “Breasts change with pregnancy as well, especially with breast-feeding (which is wonderful for the baby). Sagging and deflation are both common.”

Dr. Sarbak tailors each mommy makeover procedure to the individual patient, explaining how each woman’s body reacts differently to a pregnancy. He offers mothers the chance to renew the appearance of their abdomen, breasts, and other areas for an enhanced contour. To address one of the obvious areas of physical change after pregnancy, Dr. Sarbak says a tummy tuck is typically an effective way to give the abdominal area a flatter, smoother appearance by removing excess skin and fat, tightening the abdominal muscles, and pulling the remaining skin taut.

Often performed in conjunction with the tummy tuck is a breast enhancement, which Dr. Sarbak explains can take many forms. Depending on a patient’s needs and goals, Dr. Sarbak may recommend a breast lift to reduce sagging, inelastic skin; breast implants to add volume that may have been lost after pregnancy; or a combination of the two. He says, “One of the most exciting new options is the ability to remove excess fatty tissue from other areas of the body…and then transfer this tissue into the breasts.” By utilizing natural fat from the love handles, abdomen, arms and legs, Dr. Sarbak is able to add volume to the breasts without an implant. This excess fat is extracted through liposuction, which Dr. Sarbak says not only contributes to breast size, but also adds a more desirable contour to the area from where it was removed.

During the initial consultation, Dr. Sarbak listens to his patients’ concerns and talks over the options that may be best for their needs. He then creates a customized mommy makeover treatment plan designed with safety and effectiveness as the top priorities. Following the mommy makeover procedure, Dr. Sarbak recommends his patients adopt a routine exercise regimen and healthy diet to further enhance and maintain their results. “Having a child is a miraculous occasion, as every mother can attest to, but it can also bring about some side effects. Mommy makeover procedures provide you with the opportunity to bring back some of the features that you liked most about yourself before pregnancy.”
