Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment
Fractional CO2 lasers are designed to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production with less downtime and risk than the lasers traditionally used for this purpose. This innovative laser technology targets only a fraction of the skin’s surface, which allows for a faster recovery and significantly reduces the chance of pigment irregularities. Dr. Sarbak can use a fractional CO2 laser to address common cosmetic concerns such as sun damage, acne scars, brown spots, and uneven skin texture as well as fine lines and wrinkles. This laser can be calibrated to meet the specific needs of the individual, and treatment with a fractional CO2 laser can be particularly effective when targeting fine lines around the lips. Patients with skin concerns on the neck or chest can also benefit from this type of laser treatment.
The duration of a fractional CO2 laser treatment session will vary depending upon the size of the treatment area and may range from 15 minutes to one hour. About three to five days of downtime may be required due to skin sensitivity, the shedding of old skin, and redness. Lingering redness may last several weeks after treatment, though makeup may be worn during this time. Patients will notice the quality of their skin continue to improve over the next six months as collagen production increases.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy treatments, sometimes referred to as a fotofacial or photofacial, are designed to treat a wide range of common pigment abnormalities and skin conditions. Using light-based energy to target the treatment area, IPL therapy can be used to minimize the appearance of freckles, rosacea-related skin redness, sun spots, spider veins, or broken capillaries and blood vessels. This laser treatment can also reduce pore size and help clear up acne, ultimately providing a more even skin tone. Treatment for the entire face typically takes 20-30 minutes, and patients may return to their normal activities immediately afterward. Dr. Sarbak and Dr. Simon recommend wearing a daily sunscreen and avoiding unnecessary sun exposure following treatment. Multiple treatment sessions may be needed to achieve optimal results.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can serve as an excellent solution for the inconvenience of plucking, shaving, or waxing. This popular laser treatment targets unwanted hair and inhibits the follicles’ ability to regrow without damaging the surrounding skin. Laser hair removal can be used to smooth nearly any area of the body, including the legs, underarms, bikini area, arms, chin, or lip. Men also frequently seek out laser hair removal to address unwanted chest or back hair. This procedure is virtually pain-free. There is no downtime associated with laser hair removal, and patients can immediately return to their normal daily activities. Since hair grows in cycles, most patients undergo four to six treatments to achieve their goals.
