Dr. John M. Sarbak has been using Sculptra® since August of 2007 and patients have been delighted with the results. Think of Sculptra® as a product that restores lost volume by stimulating the growth of your own tissue, gradually. It does not provide immediate results like Restylane® or Juvederm®. The poly-L-lactid acid (Sculptra®) is injected deeper into the tissue than Restylane® or Juvederm® to address areas that have hollowed over time. You get to see a preview of your future results for a day or so, but then the fluid from the injections is absorbed and the changes go away. Then, over the next 4-6 weeks, you see a gradual growth stimulation of your own collagen. Most patients require between two and four injection sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to achieve optimal results.
In our practice, we are routinely seeing satisfying results that are still good, and in some cases even better, after two years. Sculptra® injections also are less painful than Juvederm® and Restylane® because the injections are deeper where there are fewer nerves.
Sculptra® is a very good alternative to fat injections in many areas, but should not be injected into the lips or eyelids.
Sculptra® can also be injected into the backs of hands to restore thin skin in this area.
